It’s time to slow down again and take a look at a few more commonly asked web writing questions and answers as we continue to move through our web writing series here on the WSpider blog. Ready?
How often should I write a new blog post for my site?
As effective as well-implemented, targeted blog posts are when it comes attracting niche traffic to your website, the easy answer to this question is as often as possible! Now, writing 10 blog posts a day is probably overkill and likely to dilute the effectiveness of the blog. But if possible, writing and publishing one or two posts daily is probably worth the while.
Can you explain again what the difference is between a landing page and a doorway page?
Sure. In a nutshell, landing pages are good; doorway pages are bad.
A landing page is simply a well-optimized web page that you write in order to attract visitors based on a certain keyword phrase or topic. Typically used to catch attention in a certain niche, a landing page is often designed to pass traffic further along into your site—conversion rates are typically tracked so you can make improvements to the landing page.
On the other hand, a doorway page is a black hat SEO tactic that attempts to attract search engine traffic based on a certain keyword—and then passes those visitors to a completely unrelated topic. It’s a trick provides zero value to the visitors with a primary goal of ruthlessly getting them to a website. Don’t do this—it’s unethical and will get you banned from the search engines.
How often should I submit to the article directories?
Every situation is unique. If you’re just getting started with a new search engine marketing plan, as a baseline strategy, you might consider writing one new article for article directory submission one per week. For those writing regular new articles or blogs for their websites, another commonly used rule of thumb is to write one article directory article for every five articles written and published on your own site.
Where do I find my keywords?
WSpider will be happy to assist you in selecting a group of high-demand keywords and keyword phrases to build new content around. There are several web tools for doing keyword research. Also, Google has a keyword tool that can help. However, in the end, it’s usually a good idea for beginners to borrow some keyword know-how from those with plenty of experience.
